Pond Dye
What color is your pond? That’s one of the first things we’ll ask a pond owner that needs our help. Muddy and reddish water color is common in Oklahoma and North Texas. Adding dye can provide a number of benefits to your pond's overall health.
Pond-ology uses dye to:
1. Improve the appearance of muddy or clear ponds.
2. Reduce weed growth.
Dye reduces sunlight penetration, which limits vegetation. It’s a good defense against algae and weeds, and cheaper than herbicides. Dyes are also EPA approved and safe for swimmers, pets, and livestock.
Pond-ology often uses a combination of dye and algaecide to improve a pond’s appearance.
If your water is muddy, dye can also turn it a more natural and pleasing color of blue or blue-green.
Dyes last a long time - as long as the water stays in a pond - but need to be replaced after rainfall and runoff events.
